Song Dogs: Music

Believe it or not, this song began as the usual formula for Angie and Greg: sit down in the studio and jam and record it. There was only Angie's acoustic rythym guitar and Greg's classical lead guitar originally on the song but this was one of the songs that they "heard more of" . The rhythm guitar was faded in very gradually, barely perceptible for the first few measures. Greg played the very simple piano intro but decided to keep the piano on and some really nice piano solos came of this. Almost as an afterthought, the orchestration was added and it turned into a really beautiful piece of which WAKE is very proud. As in Burnin' Down the Blues, Greg added the drums and a "ghosted" electric lead during the '07 sessions. Alive in You is one of the songs on the album that were not there at the start. There are three songs that were entirely inspired by Douglas' passing. That's the reason Alive in You, as well as Douglas Cole and Still Beating are among the most inspired (and inspiring) selections from the album.
