Song Dogs: Music
Burnin' Down the Blues
By the time of the sessions this song had become pretty much Angie's 'trademark' and had already been preformed quite a bit; thus studio production was quick and easy ... pretty much a one-take effort. Greg and Angie plugged their guitars in and - as you can tell from the banter during the intro, which includes Angie's only vocal appearance on this version of the album - they just dove into this song, which introduces the listener to the interplay between Angie's rhythm and Greg's melodies. The engineer asked if they wanted to do a second take and he got a sustained incredulous stare from both musicians. Greg quickly threw down a bass line and that was just about it. A few years later Greg laid down percussion tracks and some additional guitar work to finally finish the song.
