Well, it has been a very busy summer and we've gotten alot of work accomplished.
We had a recording session in late July which finished off several songs (except for final mastering) and started a few more. To be precise, we mixed and profiled 118, Benden White, Emancipation, Back in my Life and 117. We still need to put drums on 117.
We have four new songs, Only You, Good Luck, Bad Luck, and Pack Back. These four we just recorded the preliminary track, what I call the guide or reference track. Only vocals and guitar are on these songs. Actually, Pack Back and Good Luck may stay in this format, being folk songs. I think I may have harmonica on the step-downs between verses on Good Luck but I think I'll leave Pack Back as is.
We now have songs at various websites. We have our engineer's myspace where he's using our song, Benden White , as one of the songs exemplary of his studio's work : Lochabar sound
We also have a slideshow video on youtube : Emancipation
Finally, Greg Robertson's WAKE has joined Reverbnation
Next we will be polishing up these songs and figuring out which 10 or 12 of the 16 or 18 songs we have that we will end up putting on the next CD.
"Benden White"
"118"
One night at a party Greg was fooling around with the first two cords of an Allman Brothers song and he developed this tune out of it. The name comes from the date; it was written on New Year's Day, 2008.
"Emancipation"
Now, in deference to his musical career, Greg prefers jobs of the part-time, temporary stripe. However many years ago, as one of his day jobs, Greg became a painter ... that job turned into practically a term of indentured servitude. This song was written as an expression of the cry from deep within the soul of every one who has been oppressed; every one who yearns to be free.
"Back in my Life"
This is a typical modern love-ballad-style song. Pretty much every one can relate to this. Note the song structure; first verse of two stanzas, second verse with three and the guitar solo and the third verse with four.
"Better World" - "Gone Bacherz" - "Buzzy Bee" - "Sea Scales" - "Melody"
"You can make a better world ... all you have to do is try ... you can fix our broken home ... just do any thing any thing at all ..." - Song Dogs July 31, 2009
"Good Luck"
